This is an illustration of a "pipeline" of communication from the spirit world in the clouds to the earth below, from Andrew Jackson Davis' book "The Present Age and Inner Life". Born 1826 in New York state, Davis was known as the Poughkeepsie Seer and the Father of Spiritualism, for his passionate ushering of the new age in spirit world and human world contact. Davis was naturally clarivoyant and visionary, his keen intellect largely self-taught. In 1844 he wandered into the Catskills in a trance, to be met and instructed by the spirits of Galen and Swedenborg. Davis correctly foretold the 1848 pivotal spiritualist event of the Fox sisters demonstration, wrote several spirit-assisted books, and retired to Boston as kindly physician of the mind and body. |
