The First Spiritual Temple in Boston, Massachusetts was one of the greatest spirit-directed structures ever built to house mediumistic church services and classes. The cornerstone was laid on April 9, 1884, thanks to the visionary commitment of incarnated spiritualist Marcellus Ayer, and the Temple was dedicated and consecrated to God, Spirit, and Christ in September, 1885. The Church organization itself was founded on June 28, 1883, and continues to worship in more modest means since the decline of the heyday of Boston spiritualism. Shortly after the sale of the original building, in 1975, it was declared an historical site and has become a mysterious icon in Boston's Back Bay area. |

Spirit had previously told FST founder Marcellus Ayer that this was the fifth Temple which Mr. Ayer had built, over time, for religious and spiritual purposes, the most recently previous being in Egypt. On September 22, 1985, a time-capsule was removed from the cornerstone in the Boston mayor's presence, and it was found to contain the oil mentioned in church records from April 9, 1884, which stated that the cornerstone "according to the Ancient Egyptian Rites, was annointed with oil, sent from an Egyptian society for this purpose, said oil being a portion of that found in the Hall of Ramses III in the recent excavations in the Temple of Karnak, in which a lamp was found burning which is believed to have been burning incessantly for all these ages, being fed from a never failing reservoir of oil just beyond the ruins." Assuming the implications by spirit of Mr. Ayer's involvement with that part of Egypt, above is shown a picture of Karnak, which was known as Ipet-isut (Most select of places) by the ancient Egyptians. It is actually a city of temples built over 2000 years and dedicated to the Theben triad of Amon, Mut and Khonsu. |
