Shroud of Turin
The famous religious relic known as the shroud of Turin, if geniune, would be a wonderful example of spirit imaging itself by virtue of some energetic field able to scortch cloth. Fascinating for being a nearly photographic negative of a christ-like man (both positive and negative are shown above), the shroud did not come to light however until crowds were charged admission to see it in the 1300's, and at least one carbon-14 test has dated it to the Middle Ages.
